The Conference and the Ibero American Forum is jointly organised by the International Development in Europe Committee of the International Reading Association (IDEC), Littera - Portuguese Association for Literacy and the Research group Literacies - Practices and Discourses in Educational Contexts of the Research Centre on Education of the University of Minho

This 16th ECR also has the support of the AELE - Asociación Española de Lectura y Escritura and of the Unit of Adult Education of the University of Minho.

About the IDEC and the International Reading Association

The International Reading Association is a world-wide professional organisation of teachers, researchers, administrators, students, tutors, parents and others who work together to improve literacy and literacy education. The IDEC committee is a group of 30 national affiliates of the International Reading Association in Europe. IDEC works collaboratively with the International Reading Association and with other literacy groups to promote literacy in Europe. One of its main activities is the organisation of a biennial European Conference on Reading.

IDEC is very pleased to work with Littera - Associação Portuguesa para a Literacia  to organise the 16th European Conference on Reading. Further information on IDEC may be obtained at www.literacyeurope.org


About the Portuguese Association for Literacy

The Portuguese Association for Literacy, a national affiliate of the International Reading Association, was established in 1997.

Its main aims are:

• to stimulate and promote interest in literacy
• to sponsor conferences and workshops related to literacy development
• to disseminate knowledge helpful to the solution of literacy problems

The 1st Ibero-American Forum on Literacies is a joint organization of Littera and the Research Group Literacies - Practices and Discourses in Educational Contexts of the Research Centre on Education of the University of Minho, with the support of the Aduld Education Unit of the University of Minho and AELE - Spanish Association of Reading and Writing
